Going full Redwall with the animal people designs was a bold choice, but like the twists that Nihei puts on all the other familiar fantasy elements, it keeps things fresh and lends a vibe I associate with classic sword & sorcery to a story that could easily have come off as video game-y.

Yeah, Nihei is good at giving us worlds and characters that are distinct and a story that while the premise is simple and familiar, the journey there is unlike many others out there!
It already deserves an anime that would stand up there with the likes of Frieren, Witch Hat Atelier and Delicious in Dungeon.
