I was surprised when I first saw the trailer and the announcement for this. Glad to see this being re-release on modern consoles including the PS5 and PC (the original game was released on Xbox and Gamecube, no PS2 nor Windows PC back in 2002/2003). Oh, and the game will be using Unreal Engine 5 according to what I read online (which make sense because the game never had a Windows PC version, and the original game engine was different and made for those 2 consoles back then). I hope this is also getting release in Japan too (the original GC version did) I'm seeing G-fans online like Reddit wondering if the 2 sequels: Save the Earth, and Unleashed will get a remaster release if this one become a success. I hope both of them would get similar treatment in the future given that Save the Earth never had a Gamecube release, and Godzilla Unleashed never had a Xbox port, and for the latter, it never had a release in Japan. So a remaster for Godzilla: Unleashed could be the one and the only way for Japanese fans to play the game.
Speaking of Japanese release, both Destroy all Monsters Melee and Save the Earth not only got Japanese releases, they got some cool box art for their Japanese release. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee JPN Gamecube boxart (The GBA version also got released in Japan too, and the boxart for that is uhh.....) JPN PS2 version box art (original link here):
They both have cool-looking box arts for their Japanese release. As I said, Godzilla: Unleashed never had a Japanese release, and the only way for that to happen is for that game to get a future remaster and that could lead to get a Japanese release many years later. |
