all the ones that I've read so far are, hot gimmick, tokyo boys and girls, confidential confessions, and i think thats it. if any one can think of good drama fantasy ones that would be greatly appreciated.
for a while I've been searching but i just haven't been able to find anything close to a high school drama.

You've been looking in all the wrong places then, because there are TONS of high school drama out there.
The first manga that came to mind (I would like to note here that I've never read any of the titles you listed so I don't know how similar my suggestions will be) was MARS, which is definitely full of angst and all that wonderful stuff and set mainly in a high school. You have the classic good girl falls for a bad boy but it really goes much deeper than that.
Paradise Kiss might also work for you, it's also very much connected to the high school setting, though this high school is different from your usual one as it's an arts school, with the main focus in the series being on fashion design. It's a nice short one with a bit of a more mature feel to it than most of the other shoujo out there. And you still have some lovely angst and issues to read about (not to mention, as someone pointed out elsewhere on the forums, more than a hint of masochism on the sides of our main females)
I'm a bit confused by your request for something fantasy though, since while they have high school aged characters, I can't think of anything fantasy that would be set in a high school, beyond a few scenes. But if that's not necessarily a requirement, Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden would be a good choice. It's a prequel to the original Fushigi Yuugi series but you don't need to have read that to enjoy it and this one is much better too. You have your main character who has some serious issues with her father and thus there's your angst, and she gets sucked into this other world and told that she pretty much has to save it. Good times.

Well, if you don't mind a dramedy you might like Fruits Basket. It's about a high school girl who becomes friends with members of a family cursed with the spirits of the animals of the Chinese Zodiac (plus the Cat) , including four boys who attend high school with her. It starts off fairly lightly, the only cloud being that the heroine is an orphan, but becomes increasingly serious as it is slowly revealed how traumatized these people are by their curse.
And then there's Tokyo Babylon. It doesn't take place in high school, but the hero is a teenage medium/exorcist. Angst, you say? Subaru is His Royal Angstiness, King of Pain and Emperor of Emo. You'd probably love it as long as you don't mind that the main character happens to be gay.

Marmalade Boy!! If you read Even a Monkey Can Draw Manga, this follows the shojo storyline archetype perfectly.

Offhand? I would recommend LIFE. It's full of angst and drama, and pulled of nicely. The artwork is good, for bonus. As for the plot- girl student goes to a better school after her friend tutors her, but the friend gets left behind. Girl gets really angsty, as her friend was the only one she had; cutting ensues (don't worry, it's not superficial emo junk). Truly evil popular girls also make an appearance.
Yeah... this one's more of a mature drama, and may not be quite what you had in mind. So I'll second Marmalade Boy and Fruits Basket.

Ah, now here's one I can definetly second. I was so drawn into this manga, or what I have read so far, and every new volume seems to have my heart throbbing just to see what will happen in the next turn of the page. This story is one the best drama and psychological manga's yet, I strongly recommend this one.

I don't know about fantasy but if you like vampires, Vampire Knight is an excellent choice. When I first read the plot, it seemed a bit silly but I soon realized that there was a lot of intrigue boiling beneath the surface. Not too mention a love triangle between a mortal girl and two smoking hot vampires! As for teen angst, Zero Kiriyu, a human turned into a vampire against his will, is lovely with his sad eyes and tragic history. You can't help but want to give him a big hug.

So basically you mean more magical girl than fantasy, necessarily, since that's what Alice 19th is (which Fushigi Yuugi, with main character transported into another world, would be fantasy)

Well, I wouldn't really consider SSR to be fluffy. I mean at first it might be, but it doesn't take long for the deeper parts to be revealed, and you--well I--begin wondering not only who is good and who is evil, but what is good and what is evil.
But, as to the request at hand. Here a few I can think of that have drama and angst and fantasy. Forgive my poor attempts at a summaries (and admittedly, in some cases I copied the blurbs from the back.)
After School Nightmare. In order to "graduate", students must take part in a special after school class, where they must deal with other students discovering their painful secrets, and also discovering the painful secrets of other students.
Cheeky Angel. A mischevious genie turns a rough boy into a beautiful--yet rough--girl. I suppose this is more of a lighthearted comedy, but it does have several poignant, dramatic moments.
Dokebi Bride Sunbi can see spirits and is somewhat of a loner. She ends up becoming, in a way, the bride of a dokebi (a type of Korean spirit.) Of course, that often takes a back seat to Sunbi's daily life. Sunbi is a loner, but much (most?) of that is due to her attitude towards others, rather than the other way around.
Genju no Seiza It's good to be the king. However, it is not so good to be an ordinary guy who's been told he's king of someplace he never heard of, and also has to deal with constantly being attacked by assasins, while still living an ordinary school life.
Heaven!! Take one playboy god, one juvenile delinquent, one girl with the ability to exorcise ghosts by hitting them with a paper fan, and one stuffed monkey. Knock the boy's spirit out of his body, and have the god take it over and send the boy into the stuffed monkey. Despite the ridiculous setup, I found this to have quite a bit of angst and drama.
Land of the Blindfolded Meet high school student Outsuka Kanade, who can sometimes see a person's future with a touch, and transfer student Naitou Arou, whose ESP is limited to past events. When Kanade glimpses an unfortunate incident coming, can she change it? She soon befriends Arou, who's no novice - he can turn his ability on or off at will, even using it to see an object's "memories." Are these teenaged seers of the past and future made for each other? And who's right: Arou with his "hands off" policy about meddling in people's lives, or Kanade whose more proactive stance has already had unhappy consequences?
Millenium Snow Seventeen-year-old Chiyuki Matsuoka was born with heart problems, and her doctors say she won't live to see the next snow. Touya is an 18-year-old vampire who hates blood and refuses to make the traditional partnership with a human, whose life-giving blood would keep them both alive for a thousand years. Chiyuki should be in high school having the time of her life, but her health is failing, and she's spending her last days living in the hospital. She makes the most of the time she has left, even though things aren't that exciting - until she runs across a reluctant vampire late one chilly night. Can Chiyuki teach Touya to feel a passion for life, even as her own is ending?
Othello Yaya is sweet and gentle, and gets bullied a lot. Nana can't stand that, and gives the bullies what they deserve. However, Nana and Yaya are the same person.
Please Save My Earth This is one of my favorite titles, and a quick blurb cannot do it justice. A group of ordinary students discover they're reincarnated from people who lived on the moon, and must deal with past ife affecting their present ones.
Someday's Dreamers: Spellbound This is an offshoot to the original SD, and I found it to be more angsty. Nami's bad at magic and a disappointment to her family. Will anything change if she falls in love with Ryutaru, the bad boy?
Well, that's just a few. I limited it to a selection of some that I enjoyed that had fantasy in it, because if I had included "straight" series, this post would be even longer, and I'm tired, and going to bed.

I would also recommend Life. It's one of the most angsty and depressing mangas I've read. I've seen it compared to Confidential Confessions.
