the subject says it all. I looked it up at the darkhorse site and the first volume is 14+ young adult while the second volume has an adult rating. Could this be laziness on dh's website staff, or are they going to rate them differently?

To me it would make sense to uniform the rating for the entire series.
I'd hate to see some overzealous mother complaining about the content after her son/daughter had already seen the first volume.

I read the first 3 volumes Scanlated, I can't think of any reason why they would change the age level. 14+ is a good rating for the manga.

Well, it could be just a web site error, or perhaps the rating was changed while creating the website, or maybe they've already printed the first one and changed their minds, or for any reason really.

One of my manga series, the first 2 (3?) books are rated 'Teen' and the rest of the series is rated 'Older Teen', so obviously, ratings can change, although I imagine it was just a mistake on their part, since I feel the material is the same throughout the series.

I don't remember, but didn't Mars had a volume that was rated 'Older Teen'; also didn't Love Hina had a volume that was rated 'Teen'?

Well, sometimes ratings to fluxuate, like people said. So far, FAKE has been rated Older Teen, but I read somewhere that, if they don't edit it, vol. 7 will need a higher rating. * grins and waits patiently for vol. 7* Very Happy

Chobits has been the same way IIRC most of the books are OT (Older Teen) but at least one has been T (Teen); I'll check my bookself to confirm.

yeah, i cant see why not make Love Hina 'Teen'. Its not really that big a deal. I would be in category 'Teen' and LH is just fine, unless u immature or something.

Maybe, at most, it should be older teen. Samurai X is 17+, and that's BLOODY and graphic. Trigun should fit right in the 14+ range, seeing as how I've seen much worse at a PG-13 movie. Of course, it's still up to the parents whether to let little Johnny watch Ninja Scroll.
