You Know What Gripes Me?

Blood types! Whenever I'm reading the profile of an anime character, it gives us the usual name, age, b-day, etc. Why is it that they, nine times out of ten, put what blood type the character has? Is that supposed to be a part of the development of a character or is it in there just to take up room in a profile? It is the most irrelevant piece of information you can have in a profile. The only time when this kind of information is important is if a character is in need of a blood transfusion or is being operated on. Then I can see the point of putting that in. It is a mystery that has wrapped itself around my neck and won't let go. And that is what gripes me.

Disclaimer: The preceding rant is not necessarily meant to be taken seriously. It is there to poke fun at the nuances of anime and I might actually like the thing that I am ranting about. In short, just take this rant tongue-in-cheek because I'm just messing around here.

Im not sure, I always thought it was strange too.
I THINK its just there to fill out the Character Sheet.

In Japan, blood types are common personality indicators and, I believe, used for horoscopes. But the main reason its used in profiles is due to the personality traits associated with them.

Blood Types are also to find out a person's compatibility with another person. I think it was mentioned in Boys Be...

I don't really pay close attention to the blood types, or character information such as birthdays, etc. so I don't let it get me.

Almost every Japanese person that I knew in some way or another knew what their blood type was, especially the girls. Girls seem to be more concious of that. I know that the only Japanese girl I ever dated had the same blood type as I do.
