If I submit a new anime, how long does it usually take it to go through?
I recently (about a week and half? a week ago?), submitted a new Korean animation called "petite petite muse" produced by KBS. In korean it's called bbtty bbtty myuusu. I submitted the tite as "petite petite muse (TV)" official site: http://www.kbs.co.kr/1tv/enter/muse/index.html I was wondering how you know if it gets rejected? Or where I can go to see the process of it being accepted/rejected/in progress so that I know when I can go to the "petite petite muse" page to add information to it. |

It really depends. If a new title has everything ready (main staff & cast, production studios, official website) then it would be approved in no more than a week (usually such title would be added by we staff personally). However, some obscure and/or confusing titles can take months if the submitter doesn't have sufficient information provided, such as "I've watched it." Also there are some titles that have been announced but currently in hiatus e.g. Gothicmade by Mamoru Nagano, which has been on the queue ever since August 2006, yet we still have no idea whether this title will be finalized or not. We don't want another Mardock Scramble.
I rejected the submission, for non-Japanese or Japanese-influenced titles are added only when they are of special interest and have been mentioned in the news. We've seen more than enough submissions of Avatar: The Last Airbender already. By the way, I just saw Avatar for the first time today. It just looks like any other Oriental-themed American cartoon e.g. Jackie Chan Adventures; I don't see why there are so many people calling it "anime-influenced."
As far as I know, right now only submitters of accepted titles would be noticed automatically; we don't send them manually. In the future submitters of rejected titles may receive notices, but there's no schedule to inplement it. |

I think I might say with a near 100% certainty that Snow white and the seven dwarfswill never be part of ANN, even if dubbed in Japanese. |

Although Avatar has a few similarities with anime in general, your right that there isn't enough to call it "anime-influenced". I think the big similarities are that it has a well developped storyline that lasts for multiple seasons and in-depth character development. In contrast, the vast majority of North-American cartoons have very slim to non-existant storylines and the characters are usually 2 dimensional and if they have depth, it's minimal, and their development is fairly static. For the record I'm not saying that all anime is great and all North-American cartoons are bad. It just that a lot of people have that perception and whenever a very good North-American cartoon is produced it invariably gets compared to anime. In Avatar's case, people see the firebenders shoot fireballs and suddenly they get Dragonball Z flashbacks. That being said, there is one element of Avatar that, in my opinion at least, seems to be directly influenced by anime. The character of Jet seems to be based on the character of Spike from Cowboy Bebop. Jet's approach to life is similar to Spike's and just like Spike, he spoiler[ has a "death" scene that is ambiguous as to whether he's actually dead or not.] In the end, whether Avatar is anime-influenced or not, is irrelevent. It stands on it's own for what it is; an entertaining piece of animation. I'm definately outside of its target audience (I'm 26) and my tastes in anime tend towards stuff like Patlabor and GitS:SAC; and yet I really enjoyed Avatar. If you ever get the chance I recommend you watch it from the start so that you can really see the evolution of the various characters. Of specific interest is the character of Prince Zuko. He could have easily been a boring and average everyday villain, but he ends up having quite a bit of depth, and he goes through a number of personality changes throughout the story. In fact he reminds me a bit of Ashram from Record of Lodoss War (TV). He's the bad guy because of the circumstances he finds himself in; and not because he's an evil person. |

No, being dubbed in Japanese usually isn't grounds for inclusion. The encyclopedia is about animation from Japan, not foreign animation available in Japan. That being said, there are always exceptions. So something might occur to make this title noteworthy to anime fans in the future, -t |
