Okay, i know that fansubs aren't good to most people but i like them. Now before you get mad please let me tell you my reasons.
I think that why they are illegal they really help me decide if i like a series. Like with ones that are dubbed and people put them on the internet, well i kinda need it to see if i like an anime. And let me tell you that i don't watch something i like on the internet and then not buy it on dvd. If its dubbed then i watch about 3-5 episodes to see if i like it because i don't have the money to buy a volume to see if i like it. Believe me, I GIVE YOU MY WORD THAT I WILL ALWAYS BUY THE SERIES ON DVD. I PROMISE. And i also watch em' if i miss an episode on tv. I mean i remember the first night i watched gundam 00 fansubed. That was actually the first time i ever saw Gundam and i'll tell you right now that if wasn't for that i wouldn't have liked half the series i do today. Before Gundam 00 i didn't like sci-fi anime. but now i love the supernatural gunsligin' gritty sci-fi. So what do you think? I use them to check out series and to me without them i would not be able to be a fan of alot of the series i am today. And i give my promise. |

What do I think?
I think this isn't the place to play Mr. Morals(though plenty will disagree in certain threads) and no one truly cares what you do. Sure, a lot of people want you to never touch fansubs because that worsens the foreign markets for anime. Some want all foreign licensors to die because they "screw up" anime with edits and dubs and censoring and would like you to only watch fansubs. Ultimately though, no one's preaching to you specifically so just make up your mind on the matter and never, ever, EVER start a thread with the word(and especially with only this ONE word) fansub in it. |
