lone wolf and cub just so happens to be my personal favorite. It is well done, has a very accurate depiction of the edo (Tokugawa ) period ( i researched it myself!
please post your thoughts on it, what you've heard about it, etc. |

The only thing that I would change is the flipped formatting.
Unflipped is best. Love it anyway (all 28 volumes) |

How would you compare Lone Wolf and Cub to Blade of the Immortal, also by Darkhorse. Which one do you feel is better.

Lone Wolf and Cub and Blade of the Immortal are both Superb.
But, if someone were to say, "You only get to choose one..." then hands down i'd read/collect/buy/recommend...Lone Wolf and Cub.
Simply because if you look at from a historical point of view, Lone Wolf is like the Citizen Kane of Samurai Manga/Comics. I mean, check out who backs up Lone Wolf and Cub...Frank Miller & Matt Wagner. Its like reading the Seven Samurai, or any of the Great Kurosawa's movies...in the art form! But Blade of the Immortal is still awesome. Its more of a neo-samurai/ninja classic. I mean, lets face it...for the story line alone...("he's cursed with immortality until he kills 1000 evil men" + he has blades, swords, kitanas, stars, knifes (badd*ss weapons) to rival Punisher)...its well worth the read. Plus the blitz of artwork is sweeet.
But again, if I could only pick one...Ogami Itto and Daigoro get my vote.

Lone Wolf and Cub is awesome. as for LWaC vs. BotI, id say i liked Blade better, but Lone Wolf is probobly more important because it got so many people into manga.

Not a big fan of BotI.
Did you know that Samurai Executioner was completed before Lone Wolf & cub? |

I'm a huge fan of the classic samurai films, and Road to Perdition, which is (loosely) based on Lone Wolf and Cub, is one of my favorite comics. So I'd really love to read it. That is, if Dark Horse re-released it in a new, larger format that didn't require a magnifying glass to read.

I agree with you. I refuse to read manga that has been flipped. (some people might say I'm stubborn, but manga was intended to be read from right to left, and I won't read it any other way!) |
