Noooooooo! They'll ruin it with their editing! And then they'll license the original Degrassi and take out all the great music by Gowan and replace it with Bruce Faulconer crap!
[/sarcasm] (especially the "great music by Gowan" part) |

Chris Sabat and Sean Schmealcojicerw will do bad dubs! and 1.5 episodes a disc with screencap cover art! Canadians are deep and like fans so their release will b better!

I'd be more worried about Degrassi ruining FUNimation with its stupidity. |

Oh careful about mentioning how Funimation ruins things with their editing here on the ANN boards. I did that once and I was attacked. I have a great concern in regards to anything Funi does. And I really don't care how people respond to this because I have a right to my opinion. Funi has made good efforts, I'll admit that. But the rediculous mistakes and misjugements they make are beyond acceptable.
They change the names of things as if anime fans are either too stupid to notice, or non anime fans are too ignorant to care. For example, I observed a scene tonight in Detective Conan or "Case Closed", in which the main character "Jimmy" uses a mobile fax machine desguised as a bento lunch with rice. But rather than just calling it that Funi decided that the "ignorant" It almost seems to me like on some level they actually detest anime and Japanese culture. And try to change it as often as possible, while they blindly cash in on anime's popularity. |

I don't really care if they use new or original names as long as the story remains the same. About the cultural stuff, some people who watch this show and don't know anything about japanese culture won't know about some of the stuff there. I don't think funimation is against japanese culture. They just to make it successful for american audiences. As for degrassi, I don't think they'd dub a show that's already in english. That'd be stupid. Finally, as for bashing funi, that is getting old. I didn't like funi before, but when they started showing uncut dvds and stopped changing the openings and just dubbing the songs, I started to respect them more.

Here's an opposite conclusion that can be drawn from the same set of facts. FUNimation loves anime so much that they're willing to do whatever it takes to get it on TV, even if that means changing some cultural aspects to make the show more accessible to people who aren't familiar with Japanese culture. I'm not putting this forward as the truth, just suggesting that you look at the issue from more than one direction. Personally, I find it rather silly that they make those edits, and then place the show in a late night time slot where most of the viewers, even if they aren't familiar with what a Bento Box is, will be able to deal with it unedited. |

If it is FUNi then I'm cool with it. They're doing alot better nowadays and are learning from "mistakes" everytime. There is no problem if you even care to know what got edited in the first place.

That's true. It is silly, but they probably edit it becuase some parents probably let their kids stay up so late. |

Sadly, that's true. My little cousin approached me last summer to talk about Trigun, because he watched on AS when it was on at 1 am -_- |

Ermm... you people talking about FUNi editing Degrassi realize that I was being completely facetious with my original post, right? It's a Canadian didactic drama show for teens, of course, it's going to be unedited.
As for Gowan, I do like some of his songs, I just wanted to make a funny. I don't care much for "Moonlight Desires", which is the song of his they played the most, but, apparently, according to this song listing, they also played "Cosmetics" at some point, which is a much better song. |
