So I saw the saddest ad today in the new Animerica which not only emphasized fanservice with intentional upskirt shots, but also demonstrated that some artists need to go back to anatomy class, seeing as the camel toe was drawn poorly. I guess Geneon needed to cash in on the Najica market.

Actually Ikki Tousen is a fan service anime to begin with. It's almost impossible to find a "clean-cut" image of Ikki Tousen to even post on the DVD covers. Also, Geneon likes to stay with what the R2 DVD covers look like, so it isn't entirely their fault.

it's not really... fanservice, but really borderline porn. in either the second or third episode (i forget where i stopped watching)they show a female orgasm.

It's pretty ecchi. I watched the series up until it got licenced (I thought it NEVER would, considering the content), and it really does borderline hentai. Like UberTai said, it is pretty much impossible to find a decent non-ecchi fanservice-y shot of that series.
While the plot does seem to -slowly- get better as the series goes on, it's still very bad, and I don' think it will sell too well. Definately an 18+ rating too. They actually show a scene of two female characters getting -very- intamite (sp), if you know what I mean ^.~ I plan on buying the later DVDs however. Like I said, it starts out just awful, and then gets to morbid curiosity. Oh, and for a quick summary: Basically, it's a cheap re-enactment of the Three Kingdom Era in China, but instead, it's three High Schools. Everyone has a little bead-thingie, and that bead holds a certain warriors destiny, and each student will eventually meet the same fate as the bead they have. Cheap Example: Warrior A killed Warrior B. Kid get's Warrior A's bead. Kid goes out and kills person with Warrior B's bead. It's an interesting concept, but it could be played out better :/ I don't think I can explain it any better than that without giving away stuff... |

the weird thing is that it showed at 11 AM in japan. i think it was considered a huge bust there as well... no pun intended. i joked around with some friends, calling it ikkipr0nsen, but i never realized it got there until it showed some guy going down on a girl. the camera shots aren't THAT explicit, but still. i just can't believe this show. =\ |

I got and watched the first volume (eps 1-4) of Ikki Tousen on a lark and loved it. The first few eps, at least, aren't that strong on the content (it's certainly milder than Mahoromatic), and unlike Najica Blitz Tactics it actually has entertainment value beyond the panty shots.

I picked this one up after reading the review in Newtype USA. Panty shots or no panty shots I thought it was really entertaining. Good to see Geneon get into another genre.

I saw a couple eps at Comic-con & enjoyed it. I probably will pick it up sometime--it can't get any worse than Najica.
I like Amazing Nurse Nanako, but that one got pretty bad on the fan service in places. I love Saint Seiya. It seems like every other dvd or so we get bishie fan service--very clean warriors. Pope Ares needs a haircut--we almost saw his rear when he got out of the bath. Just for scientific reasons--compare with Shun's shower scene.....Tsuzuki's shower in Descendants of Darkness beat it, though. Although it's hard to beat Dark Schneider of Bastard--he never seems to have anything on when he appears in the manga....Yakumo looked pretty good for a zombie in the last 3X3 Eyes. Aren't both Pioneer anime titles? Not to mention Mahoromatic(Booby Missiles!) & Hand Maid May. I think Pioneer is no alien to fan service. Do you know how much nudity we get in the credits of Pioneer's Demon Lord Dante?(ok-Go Nagai. Clothing optional.) Really, if the fan service bugs you, just avoid the title. |

You should see Brain-Powerd sometime. Its opener is notorious for being pure fan service despite the fact that the series itself is worthy of a PG rating. |
