I read the first chapter of RahXephon on the Viz website. I was just wondering if anyone has read it yet, and if so, is it any good. The encyclopedia only had 10 reviews, and the were mostly good, but I am hoping for someone to actually tell me what they really thought about it, etc. Thanks for your help.

I am a huge fan of the anime, but the manga is completely diffrent. Aside from huge plot diffrences, the manga replaces much of the character's depth with fanservice; LOTS of fanservice. I would have to say avoid the manga; it really can't even begin to compare with the anime, or many other things on the market today.

I would have to say the opposite. I like how the manga differs from the anime. Plus, the story-line isn't as confusing as that found in the anime, making it easier to follow than the TV series.
I believe that the manga is only three volumes long, so it isn't that much of a hazard to purchase.

Yea, try not to compare with the anime. Think of it as another universe of Rahxephon with fanservice. It's pretty good, especially if you enjoy fanservice.

If you can get past the fanserivce, and you like more sci-fi based manga then I would say pick it up. However, if you don't care for much fanservice the you can just pass on it. Also, as some people have stated before it is slightly different from the anime (more like a condensed version) and so you shouldn't compare it to the anime too much, but might want to use it as a basis for if you start buying the series.

If it was just fanservice, I could care less. But I found the story to be boring. And since its only three volumes, they took out alot of the mythology and of course character development. I guess if you aren't looking for a deep read, or want some ecchi humor, it might be a good read, but I didn't like it at all.

Anyone know if Volume 3 is at thier Barnes and Nobel yet? I haven't seen a copy and it's the end of september. It's suppose to come out in Sept but knowing Viz and thier released schd, I wouldn't be surpise if it's delayed again.
Also someone mention that the excllusive end will end soon and we can see it at other store and website. When?
