Wonder how they resolved the issue that, usually Amazon works only with the publisher as the rightsholder, but in Japan, the author is considered a co-rightsholder. So anything Amazon decides to do, it has to run by not only thru the publisher but also thru each author. How cumbersome.........
Also, J-publishers don't like their sales being undercut by discount prices. That's why e-commerce books haven't taken off there. But Amazon is famous for undercutting brick-and-mortar shop prices............

It's really hard for them to conform to what's been a global standard for sometime now.
