Am I the only one who prefered the second half of the first volume to the first half? I didn't get really interested in the story until that happened, personally. Admittedly, volume 2 was better overall, but I may not have been so hasty to pick it up if not for the time jump.
On that note, Sophia > everything and Kenji > everything-but-Sophia

The gnosticism bullshit isn't very interesting and does try to hard, but I think the characters and intense pace of the story more than make up for it and I'd give it at least a B+ overall, but still a good review. I'm really looking forward to reading more of this, especially with the current lack of good action epics out there.

Speaking of gnosticism, the names of the territories in volume 2 ("Gnosia" and "Agnosia") made me groan.
I like the series, I just don't care for the excessive philosophy/theology. I'm much more interested in the politics and the characters. |
