Nice i was afraid they wouldn't continue , i can't wait to see blonde Celia and Hiroaki which i've long since renamed Natsuki Subaru in anime. I hope they won't adapt more than 4 volumes this time, 5 wasn't correct for a single cour.

Is there any isekai that has aired this year that has not gotten a sequal annoucement? minus the stuf currently airing? This is a legit question as i think every major isekai title has gotten one at this stage.

Its great, this series is not something steller but it is a fun little to show to kill some time, in the past this type of show would of gotten just one season as a quick material promoter and than eventually gets forgotten and left in the dust. No doubt about it the industry has def changed this year in particular, i think we have had more sequal announcements this year than any other year period.

It's not just isekai; everything is getting second seasons. Last Crusade, Tonikaku Kawaii, Nagatoro, Science Fell in Love, Uzaki, Teasing master Takagi-san (though thats a 3rd season). I think theyre just starting to split the difference between how things used to be in the early to mid 2000s (24 episode series) and how things morphed into (13 episode seasons in the 2010s). Now theyre doing split cours/ multiple 12 to 13 episode seasons.

When it comes to the major titles all but Kumo desu which had a 2 cours got a sequel or have a sequel in work, for the others i would rather say the chances are about 50/50. If you take out the current season, the non isekai fantasy like Tatoeba Last Dungeon, Kakushi Dungeon ... and Ura sekai Picnic which isn't full isekai then the ones without ongoing or announced sequel either TV anime or Film are :

-Kumo desu ga nani ka
-Sentouin, Hakenshimasu!
-Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita
-Seijo no Maryoku wa Bannou Desu
-Cheat Kusushi no Slow Life
-Meikyuu Black Company ( this one is manga based though )

After all the sequel bait they threw into the ending of the last season and the director's teasing, I'm glad they've confirmed it!

And that RioxCelia illustration is perfect!

As for the isekai output specifically, I believe a recent article here attributed that to Kadokawa. But otherwise, nah it isn't the "going from 26 to 13" thing. Particularly since several studios -i.e. PA Works, Studio Pierrot and Sunrise - are still mostly producing multi-cour series and the studios that specialize in single cour series switched ages ago.

Also, tons of shows that did reasonably well even 2-3 years ago didn't get renewed. Some good examples are Masamune-kun no Revenge, Watamote and Classroom of the Elite. Those had 12 episodes too. Meanwhile shows that were either disappointing in ratings/sales like Our Last Crusade or practically anonymous like Science Fell In Love are getting extra seasons. In addition to Nagataro, which didn't expect a second season and had a "series ending" conclusion. Unlike Uzaki-Chan, whose season 1 final episode spoiler[didn't change the status quo] AND introduced new characters.

My guess is that in a short while we have gone from just Crunchyroll - which was niche - and Funimation to Crunchyroll adding a ton of subscribers, Netflix making a major push, HBO Max upping their anime content and now Disney+ getting involved. (Is Amazon Prime going to try again?) Plus HiDive is still around. This means that the industry is awash in cash and there are A LOT of programming slots that need to be filled. It is MUCH FASTER to do a turnaround sequel than it is to do a new project (or a reboot or sequel season to a series that aired years ago). With the former, you often still have the rights and can simply rehire most of the same people to pick up where they left off. For the latter (re)acquiring the rights and putting a team together could take years.

Eventually the anime industry will adapt and you will see a lot more new adaptations and even originals. But until then, those slots are going to be filled by as many quick turnaround renewals as possible. Even for series that not many people watched the first go around.

Because of how much they crammed in at the end there is a fair amount of volumes 4 and 5 that they can still adapt. The rescue at the end in particular was rushed so I'd be happy to see them cover the moment of summoning onwards more thoroughly in the first episode.

Was not expecting this. Honestly thought that the first season was just a promo for the Light Novels. But it looks like we're getting bargain-version Kirito again lmao. Jokes aside, I did enjoy the first season, I just wished we had more fights. There were also a lot of timeskips, something that I'm not sure took place in the novels. Hopefully the second season is less rushed.

I liked this more than I should. I was considering reading the LN, but I'll wait for season 2 first. With all these second seasons, how about Rakudai?

Yes, the timeskips do happen in the light novels. However, most times they were not nearly as glossed over in the original light novel as the anime version with the events leading up to and during the timeskips.

Kumo got a full 24 eps. I hope slow life doesnt get one because it was so empty of anything. I could see any of the others get one in the future.

This one really sucks in paticular. With Sol Press going defunct last week, I don't think well be getting the light novels anymore. They've already started delisting the visual novels they translated.
