The actors, sets, props, and direction were fine. But Why fix what ain't broken? I get that anime is not equal to movie so some changes are needed but the plot of this movie was REALLY bad. The anime did exposition better in the first episode. It's almost like they wanted to adapt the first episode and then filled the rest of the runtime with nonsense.

I’m more shocked someone actually watched it. It wasn’t screened for critics and seemed to be pulled from all but a handful of screens. The one night Fathom performance of Shin Ultraman apparently bagged more than the weekend for Zodiac did, and I won’t be surprised if Shin Kamen Rider does the same.

The film sounds like it’s about the same quality of Guyver 2, for those who saw it (Not the first Guyver, that was closer to DB Evolution bad). A weak plot and need to rush through or skip elements of the very long story it’s adapting but made worth it for those unfamiliar and bored that day with good action and decent acting.

Maybe the next time they attempt to bring Saint Seiya to the states, they'll base it off the manga instead of a Netflix adaptation that also failed.

They can base it off the manga it still won’t draw a dime.

Why we know it made “some” money since it released a month ago.

After reading the review I can understand why this movie flopped. Who is Sienna, Alman, Guraad??? And where are the names of the other main characters of the anime? The cloths looks terrible. One of the main thing of Saint Seiya is the flashy and stylish armor, but here they look boring. Next time stick to animation and respect the source material!

The influence of stuff from the Netflix adaptation is a sign of how confused the making of this film is.

A combination of poor production and a lot of weird decisions that overall created a mediocre movie.

For some reason like every English version of Seiya changes Saori's name to Sienna, including the Viz release of the manga.

Sienna came all the way from DiC's Knights of the Zodiac, though I imagine it's possible it originally came from one of the old KotZ adaptations from Europe or South America.

Alman & Guraad, though, are 100% from the CG reboot, as DiC called Mitsumasa Kido "Lord Nobu".

Other way around, there's an interview with one of the co-producers (see this thread) that suggest the movie was worked on before the CG show and Guraad was added to the show later.

Huh! Did not know that.

I'm just dumbfounded by the list of characters in this film. Where are core characters like Shun, Hyoga, and Shiryu? Why are anime filler characters like Docrates and Jaki in this when there are so many manga canon antagonists to pick from?

I mean, it's a Hollywood manga adaptation. Everybody knows the drill now, it will be bad. That's one reason nobody showed up.

That would only apply to the stalwarts that were never going to bother with a live action adaptation due to liking the original manga & anime more which of course doesn’t apply to everyone. Same way those same people weren’t going to get behind the Netflix anime for being CG.

The "normies" didn't even hear about this film, and if they did, they said, "Knights of the Zodiac? WTF is that?" and went about their day.
