Gundam Thunderbolt was easily the best narrative in the entire Gundam franchise. Flawed and compelling characters, always respecting the stakes with extreme consequences from characters actions, excellent pacing throughout; Thunderbolt was a perfect story.

There are three manga that I always considered my all time favorites: Berserk, Battle Royale, and Eyeshield 21. Gundam Thunderbolt is now on that list.

Great work and thank you, Yasuo Ohtagaki! I look forward to reading your new manga next year.

It's great the series reached the ending after all the challenges Ohtagaki sensei faced. I do wish he'd complete Moonlight Mile though, it was a very unique take on near future space colonisation.

I wouldn't exactly say the "best." There are certainly others that far surpass what he did. He didn't really offer anything unique and compelling and, quite frankly, did nothing but destroy the bloody fandom because of certain comments he made in the past. I honestly feel he should've wrapped up the story 4-5 volumes ago instead of dragging out the "climax" for two years only to end with hints of further story to tell.

I believe he's circling back around to that since he's been hinting at the duo from it for a while now.

I read the print versions when they drop in English so it will be a while until it ends for me. It's one if the few manga I aiways read immediately and don't just let sit there until I have more time. Volume 24 drops this week hooray!

I've suspected for a long time that the Federation faction in this story will be one of the foundations for the Titans, especially since they have knowledge of Psycommu. The Moon Moon manga points out that the Titans knew about Psycommu before the events of Char's Counterattack unlike the mainline Federation. I do not expect things to line up neatly like that and for my own sanity I consider Thunderbolt an alternate reality on most days since it has broken too many things. Would be a nice way to end things.
