Well, the cast leaked like a week ago so it's not that much of a surprise for some, but I can understand that they wanted to wait until the release because this new version has a completely new cast, but Maaya Sakamoto as Motoko makes a lot of sense because she already voiced the character in Arise. I'm certain Maaya will honor Atsuko Tanaka's legacy as Motoko.
By the way, the Latin American Spanish cast has also been confirmed and characters such as Batou, Daisuke, Togusa and Ishikawa are voiced by the same dub VAs who have voiced them in the recent dubs for GitS Arise and SAC, but interestingly Motoko is not voiced by Gaby Willer, who voiced her in the original movie, Innocence, The Laughing Man and Individual Heaven, or Jessica Ortiz, who voiced Motoko in Arise and SAC 2045, but instead she's voiced by Rosalba Sotelo who already dubbed Scarlett Johansson as Motoko in the live-action movie, it's actually kind of interesting because Rosalba does not do a lot of anime dubbing, her most significant anime role is Relena Darlian in Gundam Wing.
