Wouldn't Junichi Sato be the right man for a Yotusba anime? I mean, doesn't he have a knack for slife of life? The scene described here doesn't seem impossible to pull off IMO.

But they did this for Azumanga Daioh too. I remember a few scenes when one character says something and then there'll be silence for one or two seconds. I really wish that there'd be one. I'm sure it'll be even better than Azumanga Daioh

I didn't even know there was a rumor.
I can see what Azuma is saying. You should also keep in mind that while the chapters have been published consistently for several years, in the Yotsuba universe only 3 or 4 months have passed. How well that would adapt to even a OVA or 13 ep. series, I don't know. You can stretch so much in a half hour show. We'll see. |

Regardless of who directs a possible Yotsubato! anime, it will still be an anime that will broadcast wee into the late hours, just like Azumanga Daioh. A manga published in Dengeki Daioh will mainly have otaku appeal, not the appeal of mainstream Japan. |

I don't understand why people think that every popular manga has to be into an anime. It's kinda like selling out. It's not like every one is like "Scott Pilgrim should be made into a cartoon show!" Or "Bone [by Jeff Smith] should be an animated series" (Not that I would mind those)
And although I like Tomoko Kaneda, I don't think she should be Yotsuba. Her voice is cute but it's TOO cute. I actually think Yotsuba is BEGGING to be voiced by a child actor. |

All of which have been removed from Rightstuf's website, with the only one remaining being the 6th volume of which I ordered as soon as it became available. 
All tabloid drama aside. I would love to see a Yotsuba&! anime! |

Actually I kind of doubt that. Yotsuba the manga may be serialized in a pretty otakuy manga rag, but the manga itself has won some seriously important awards, like placing second for the Manga Taisho award and getting nominated for the 12th Osamu Tezuka prize. Not to mention being the second highest selling graphic novel on amazon. I personally think it'd either air on prime time, maybe NHK, or perhaps in the noitamina block which is like 12:30-1 AM (not THAT late). |

...What? Huh? Yotsuba&! is HARDLY otaku material, have you read it? Where the hell does being in a specific serialization determine its air time? .-. It's extremely family friendly, completely harmless and is what I'd call, a GREAT all ages series. It's simple and quirky, it's quite capable of wide appeal as an anime. |

Oh, you mean as opposed to Azumanga Daioh where there was a scene where nothing happened but Sakaki petting Mr. Tadakichi for at least 30 seconds? |

One (repeated) word:
Motivation. . . motivation. . . motivation. . . It was definitely possible to do that sort of joke in AzuDai, and that shouldn't be an objection to a Yotsubato anime. AzuDai was extraordinately faithful to the manga, and left very little out (Magnetron Burger is the only one I can think of off the top of my head). I don't know how popular the anime was in Japan, but I know a lot of people here in the US who liked it and bought it. I own the DVDs of the anime, and that's saying a lot. Oh, and I'll say it again, but the font being used for forum titles has a really weird looking ampersand. |

You'd probably say the same thing about Azumanga Daioh, which also was an otaku-aimed show in Japan. It might seem strange to Western sensibilities (I honestly don't understand it), but that doesn't stop it from being true. I haven't read any of Yotsuba&! myself, mainly because of ADV's manga issues...but if they ever get things moving again, I definitely would like to. |

Yotsuba definitely has mainstream appeal, IMO, as it's message is one that people from all walks of life could enjoy. But with the typical Western anime/manga fan, Yotsuba probably isn't what they're looking for when they watch/read. Sadly.
