See with Negima!? Neo it at least makes the anime copy seem like crap.
Plus after they leave the whole "star crystal" arc that was what the anime used. The story picks up a bit and stops uses a lot of plot from the anime or manga making plotlines of it own that go along with certain things. |

I'd sort of have to disagree with the claim that the art in DMC is bad, or at least pose the question, "what would you have it look like?" It's a quirky, bizarre, raunchy manga, and I think the art is fitting, even if it's not polished. Sure, if there were a shoujo manga the artwork would be entirely inappropriate, but I think it suits this particular subject matter.

Actually, I'm fairly sure his one weakness is spelling. --- On an unrelated note, I find it decidedly difficult to take seriously the opinion of any person who can utilise the word "feminazi" without benefit of irony. |

Fullmetal Alchemist volume 20 has probably my favorite moment in all of FMA, involving Doctor Marcoh and Envy. It's too bad Arakawa made it almost entirely pointless immediately.

Oh, I laughed over the elephants, never had a problem with them in terms of entertainment. However if there was anything of questionable historical accuracy in Emma, it'd be Hakim and his...elephants. If you can give me an example where a young Indian lord brought a herd of elephants through downtown London on visit (and used them as a main form of transport when going about town), and then left them to "graze" on the grounds of an English manor I concede I shouldn't have even mentioned it. I need to pick up the next DMC volume for my dad. He's loved the series to death since I showed him the movie. "No music, no dream!" |

God I'm so far behind in FMA it's ridiculous
 . I have to agree with belindabird, I think the artwork in DMC is fine considering the subject matter.

.... I'm not even going there. Suffice it to say the unrealistic art is part of what keeps it funny to me, rather than horrifying. Oh, and while I'm in danger of ticking people off already, Emma = boring, cliched, and overrated. |

Well, I've read worse, and the art is pretty. So I guess it had that going for it. Otherwise, I'd rather just read Jane Austen or one of the Bronte sisters, or any number of well-done romantic manga. So... you go on about how cliche' it is, but then go into stating you rather read Regency-era romance? I don't understand, how is it cliche' in terms of manga? Because last I checked, Emma was about the only historically accurate Victorian-era maid manga I could find, and none of those authors you listed every write about maids. And I doubt you're ticking people off. Just surprising some by your opinion of a rather unique manga. |

I meant cliched storywise. As I said in my edit, it's not bad, it's just.... bland. To me it doesn't matter whether it's something original to manga, just whether it's plain original. I applaud an author for aiming for historical accuracy and all, and those parts were interesting, but the inter-class relationships in Britain between a rich man and a poor woman have been done before and much much better. Oh, and I could not bring myself to like Emma one bit. Total pushover. |

Agreed about Emma. Boring as death. It might be original, it might be sincere, it might even be historically fairly accurate but that amounts to nothing if it fails to entertain the reader.

I for one absolutely loved Emma. Her quiet ways really appealed to me. The background work was also stunning. Own both seasons of the anime myself^^
