I just need to chime in and say to Funimation that the packaging for their BD release of Darker than Black is a piece of crap. I planned to buy this release, but you dropped the ball.

I hope you learn to do better special edition packaging.

Hmm, let's see, my power would be molecular manipulation and my price would be organizing and destroying objects. That would certainly be interesting.

So, depending on whether I go by my real first name or my middle name, which is what I usually go by, I'm either a vacuum-creating ecdysiast or an animal-controlling ecdysiast.

...at least it's not the finger-breaking one? Anime smile;

I really want to re-buy this series on Blu-Ray since I loved it and already own it on DVD. But I hope they will do a regular edition as well.

Usually I'm a sucker and will buy a series if their is a Limited Edition in fact all but one of my LE sets from Funimation are that way except for one that I missed out on.

But this release is so dam huge and doesn't fit on any shelf just like the stupid Cowboy Bebop LE set.

If you are going for a premium set at least put some thought into it.

My power would not be worth the price, at least not normally. Animal possession sounds cool, but not if I have to grow older as a result. It's weird how variable the prices are considering some end up having to do some sort of annoying, but otherwise harmless task, but others have to hurt themselves.

I've been reading elsewhere that there are some issues with the packaging, though the descriptions made it hard to tell if there was a consistent issue. From what I can gather, it does seem to tie to the outer casing for the discs being damaged upon arrival.

Power: Control other people and create illusions
Price: Eat flowers.

Power: Gravity Nullification
Price: Breaking Fingers

Some have it pretty rough, some have it too easy. Nonetheless, probably my all time favorite anime. Sad to say the quality of the box set was... rather lacking. But it's the only way I can get DtB on Bluray so I just gotta live with it. Kinda thankful that I got it on clearance.

Mine arrived just fine. 2 of the disc slots were a bit looser than the 3rd, which meant they didn't fit as snuggly and could slide out a bit easier, but that's the only issue I've had so far.

Though I certainly do wish that Funimation had done something that was a more typical size, like they did with the Psycho-Pass LE. At least with the Cowboy Bebop LE it had art and a design aesthetic that you could at least reasonably display. This LE really doesn't have anything to make it worth displaying in the first place as it just looks like a black set of documents.

As for my power I got Molecular Manipulation and Drinks Hot Milk......ugh, I HATE warm/hot milk.

Power: Disintegration
Price: Cooks

Pretty lucky, but aging backwards would be pretty cool. You could effectively live forever. I just bought the "Anime Classics" version of DtB right before they annouced the release of the BD of it, but whatever. I really have no reason to upgrade.

Aging backwards would be cool though. You could live forever and just use your power to make yourself young again.

I don't know, man... The thought of aging backwards just doesn't sit well with me. What would happen if I ended up like Benjamin Button?

Wow, just recently I was thinking how underrated and overlooked Darker than Black is, props to Funimation for putting it back into the spotlight.

Such an awesome premium edition, what other premium edition has such a high loose disc rate?

Here's how you do digipaks FUNimation...

Heck, Square-Enix did something a bit similar to this, a big book with a slipcover over it, but the art cards aren't tight, and the digipak actually holds the discs. They used hard plastic instead of cheap, flimsy cardboard sleeves.

Also for comparison, this is what the Japanese Blu-ray Box for Darker Than Black was. Much more practical than this.

I could keep going on how the Soul Eater PE will be a disaster, how their efforts in the past were better, how other companies do a much better job, but you get the idea. FUNimation has no clue how to do these anymore. Hopefully they improve as I'd like to see good premium editions from them. Stuff like this just isn't good.

I feel sorry for those who have to break their own fingers.

Those who get to drink alcohol have it much easier, LOL.

Gravity Nullification in exchange for drinking hot milk. Well, that sucks. I'm lactose intolerant Sad
