The first Ranma ½ anime to be animated digitally instead of using celluloid for the animation.

The first Ranma ½ anime to not feature Hirotaka Suzuoki and Tatsuyuki Jinnai as the voices of Tatewaki and Principal Kuno. Both voice actors passed away before the production of this OVA. They were replaced with Hochu Ohtsuka & Kouji Tsujitani as the voices of Principal Kuno and Tatewaki Kuno respectively. Kouji Tsujitani previously did the voice of Tatewaki in three episodes of the Ranma ½ TV anime.

During Akane's first dream during the big party, Lum from the "Urusei Yatsura" can briefly be seen flying past the camera, making her trademark flying sound.

The only Ranma ½ OAV to not be released in the USA.

The only Ranma ½ OAV to not be dub in English.

At one point Kagome Higurashi, Shippo, Miroku, Inuyasha and the Tessaiga make cameo appearences when Akane is having a nightmare about Hinako. Inuyasha, Shippo, and Tessaiga are located to Akane's left. Shippo's body is on top of Inuyasha while Tessaiga (in its true form) is stuck in the floor behind Inuyasha. Kagome in her normal school uniform is to Akane's right and her back is to the viewer. Miroku is behind Akane but can only be recognized by his sandals and purple robe.

The pig-shaped burner used by Happosai could be a reference to the 80th episode of Urusei Yatsura, "Panic at the Ghost Inn", where Ataru straps one onto his head in order to scare away hotel owners.

Yuka and Sayuri have their hairstyles reversed.

The first Ranma OAV to feature Ranma wearing his red shirt. In the previous OAVs he was usually wearing either a white or blue shirt.

The first Ranma OAV to feature a title sequence that is animated and with characters presenting the title to the screen. In the previous OAVs, it was a freeze frame of a scene within the beginning and is tinted blue with white text in the foreground.

The ending features an artwork landscape featuring not just the characters who appeared in the OAV, but as well as characters who were not present in anyway. They are the following: The Orochi, Azusa Shiratori, Mikado Sanzenin, Yotaro & his mom, Harumaki, Kome, Densuke, The Civil Engineer, The Oni, The Legendary Phoenix, The Niku Men, Maomolin, Shussemaru, The Dojo Destroyer, Shirokuro, Akari Unryu, Katsunishiki, Pantyhose Taro, Rouge, Saffron, Kiema, Kinnosuke Kashao and his ventriloquist dummy April, Sanae, Sentaro Daimonji, The Gambling King, The Mushroom of Time affected Ranma & Ryoga, Shinnosuke & his grandfather, Ryu Kumon, Doodle Panda. The Cursed Bathing Suit, Konatsu, Tsubasa Kurenai, Ranma as Yoiko Hibiki, Mariko Konjo, Mint, Lime, Herb, Yohyo Tsuruyasennen, Nodoka Saotome, Dr. Tofu Ono with Betty, Pink, Link, Old Washer Woman, & Plum.

While not in animated form, this marks the first Ranma related anime to depict artwork of many manga exclusive characters who have never made any anime debut.

The first Ranma ½ anime to not be produced by Kitty Films.

Hochu Ohtsuka who voiced Principal Kuno in this OVA, previously voiced Gindou in episode 78 of the Ranma ½ TV anime series.
