Trivia:

In episode 1, at about 10:25, the way Tomoko uses the mouse is a parody of how Yagami Light from the anime Death Note uses the pencil to write down names of people he wants to kill in his death note at the end of episode 1.

In Episode 1, when Kuroki Tomoko says that she will become a "Joshi Kosei" (High School Girl) the presentation is clearly a parody of the anime "Ginga Senpuu Braiger". The group from the show called "J9" is presented this way in the opening.

In episode 2, the scene that starts at about 13:09 and the background music during that scene is a parody of the 1995 Studio Ghibli movie “Mimi o Sumaseba” (Whisper of the Heart). Tomoko plays the role of Shizuku while Hatsushiba plays the role of Seiji.

In episode 2, at about 20:00, Tomoko is see reading Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun volume 1. Volume 2 is also shown at about 23:30 when Tomoko is reading it while on her bed.

In episode 4, at the very beginning, Tomoko is browsing the GanGan Online official website, a free web magazine that serializes manga and light novels published by Square Enix including the manga “Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui!”. You can clearly see links to her manga as she browses through the website.

In Episode 7, at around the 45 second mark, Tomoko is listening to the television when she mocks the character on screen for being a pansy. The scene on the TV is a parody Kiki's Delivery Service where Tombo is inviting the protagonist Kiki to a party that his flying club is hosting.

In Episode 8, around the 19 minute mark, Tomoko is playing a card game that is clearly styled after cards from Magic: The Gathering.

In episode 9, when Tomoko is cleaning up her stuff she finds a castanet. When she is trying to remember how to play it, she does it with an "Un-tan, Un-tan." This is the way Yui Hirasawa in K-on! plays a castanet.

In Episode 11, when Tomoko passes by the Light Music Club Room wanted to join the band, she imagines herself as Haruhi Suzumiya on stage. But when she thinks she won't fit in the band, she portrays as Azusa Nakano from K-on!

In Episode 11, Tomoko and Yū are discussing an anime at the culture festival. Given the clues of a girl dying in the middle of the series, the series picking up after that event, and the mentioning of a movie coming out, as well the time period in which the anime ran on television, they're most likely talking about Puella Magi Madoka Magica. This also ties in with the lecherous feelings Tomoko had towards Yū earlier in the episode, as many of its viewers have established Puella Magi Madoka Magica as a metaphor for lesbianism.

In episode 11, at about 00:29, three of Tomoko's classmates are seen performing the Hare Hare Yukai dance from the Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi anime during PE class.

In episode 12, a particular scene is shown to make reference to the anime "Another アナザー"

In episode 12, at about 14:00, Tomoko refers to the cockroach as a “Terra Former”. This is a reference to the Terra Formars (テラフォーマーズ) manga written in 2011 by Sagusa Yu and illustrated by Tachibana Kenichi. In the manga, humans attempt to terraform the surface of Mars by sending cockroaches and mould to the surface so that the mould can form a vegetation cover and use the cockroach corpses as food. The plan backfires when, after many years of doing that, the cockroaches mutate into giant humanoid like creatures who have now occupied the entire surface and will kill any other creature attempting to inhabit it.

In episode 12, Tomoko describes her plans for becoming an arms merchant involving a squad of former special ops. members and an expressionless child soldier, referencing Jormungand.

In episode 12 at about 13 min, Tomoko imagines herself in the anime Another in which she plays Mei Misaki, the girl with the eye patch who is 'invisible' to the rest of the class.
