The name Mofusand is derived from the Japanese words "mofu mofu" (もふもふ; "fluffy") and "sando" (サンド; "sandwich").

The series is sponsored by Ciao, a popular line of cat snacks by Inaba Pet Foods.

The doctor in episode 6 is a Shiba Inu and is the only non-feline character in the series.
