Dragon Ball Super Special Singer Goes Super Saiyan

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The theme song singer for the upcoming Dragon Ball Super one-hour special is going Super Saiyan. Kiyoshi Hikawa is performing the special's theme song "Genkai Toppa × Survivor" for the special episode set to air on October 8. The single's CD release will include a Hero Avatar card for the Super Dragon Ball Heroes arcade game featuring Hikawa as a Saiyan-powered fighter. The card shows Hikawa wearing Goku's usual outfit, except the kanji is changed to "氷" from his name and is read as "hi" for "ice."

The "Genkai Toppa × Survivor" single goes on sale on October 25 and will include seven tracks, all variations of the theme song.

Hikawa stated that singing the theme song for a show he's loved since childhood is "like a dream." Hikawa is best known as the "Prince of Enka" and he is a regular guest on NHK's annual Kōhaku Uta Gassen New Year's program.
