Recochoku's Valentine Anime Character Survey

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Gintama's Gintoki, K-ON!! cast again top list for giving & getting chocolates

The Japanese music distributor Recochoku posted the results of its annual Valentine's survey of the anime characters that people want to give chocolates to, and receive chocolates from. In Japan, women give chocolates to men on February 14, and men return the favor on White Day (March 14).

Between January 17-31, Recochoku asked its users which character they want to give chocolates to — and receive chocolates from. The results from the self-selected pool of 765 respondents are as follows:

Anime Characters I Want to Give Chocolates to

  1. Gintoki Sakata (Gintama)
  2. Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)
  3. Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)
  4. Hijikata Toushirō (Gintama)
  5. Kyōya Hibari (Katekyo Hitman Reborn!)

Anime Characters I Want to Receive Chocolates from

  1. Mio Akiyama (K-ON!!)
  2. Azusa Nakano (K-ON!!)
  3. Yui Hirasawa (K-ON!!)
  4. Mikoto Misaka (Toaru Kagaku no Railgun)
  5. Sheryl Nome (Macross Frontier)

Recochoku hosted the same poll last year, and Gintoki also won that poll for "Anime Characters I Want to Give Chocolates to," and the same three characters from K-ON!! placed in the top three spots on last year's "Anime Characters I Want to Receive Chocolates from" poll, although in a different order.

The anime and special-effects section of NTT Communications' OCN portal also posted results of a similar survey last year, and Kämpfer's Natsuru Senō and Heaven's Lost Property's Ikaros topped the survey of "Anime Characters I Want to Receive Chocolates from," and Star Driver's Takuto Tsunashi and Rurouni Kenshin's Aoshi Shinomori topped the survey of "Anime Characters I Want to Give Chocolates to."
