"Almost life-size" dog character plush to ship in late August

Japanese hobby goods maker Aoshima Bunka Kyozai will release an Apo pug plush inspired by the Space Brothers (Uchū Kyōdai) manga, anime, and live-action film. The "almost life-size" plush will cost 6,090 yen (about US$77) and ship at the end of August.

This version of the science-fiction story's dog character will measure 35 centimeters (about 14 inches) long and 33 centimeters (13 inches) tall. The plush features wrinkles on its forehead and back, a curly pug tail, and Apo's trademark heart shoulder marking.

The anime adaptation of Chūya Koyama's Space Brothers (Uchū Kyōdai) manga premiered in Japan on April 1. Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for release in North America, and Crunchyroll streamed the series in various countries as it aired in Japan.

The story's live-action film adaptation opened in theaters in Japan on May 5.
