Ad is 1st official use of Japanese character to promote a Steven Spielberg work

Danbō, the cardboard robot suit from Kiyohiko Azuma's Yotsuba&! manga, has faced withering rain, high sidewalk curbs, and other obstacles in life, but it faces its gravest threat in a new crossover commercial:

The ad hypes the Collector's Edition Blu-ray Disc release of Steven Spielberg's Jaws film in Japan. According to Geneon Universal, this is the first time that a Japanese character has been officially used to directly promote a Spielberg work.

The Blu-ray went on sale on Wednesday.
