Hatsune Miku Blu-ray Box for 2012 Concert Tops Oricon Charts

Miku now first virtual singer to ever top video charts

The Japanese market research firm Oricon has announced that the virtual singer Hatsune Miku has topped their latest weekly Blu-ray sales charts. According to the firm, the Miku no Hi Daikanshasai 2 Days Complete Box Blu-ray and CD set sold 17,666 copies to top the Blu-ray chart, while the DVD version of the box sold 4,705 copies to rank 4th on the DVD charts. The set features recordings of both live events held on March 8 and 9 of this year.

The official home video release of the character's 2010 Kanshasai concert previously reached #2 on the charts, while the May 2010 Exit Tunes Presents Vocalogenesis Feat. Hatsune Miku album was the first Hatsune Miku music CD to top the music charts.

Both the Blu-ray and the DVD boxes went on sale on August 29, for a price of 15,540 yen (about US$198) and 13,440 yen (US$171), respectively.
