Drone Version of Last Exile's Vanships Under Development

posted on by Eric Stimson
Full-size version to be on display at Tokyo Comic-Con

If watching Last Exile made you dream of zipping through the skies in a vanship, your dream is getting a little closer to reality. EnRoute, an unmanned vehicle manufacturer, is developing drones based on Tatiana's vanship.

Preorders for the drone will begin on December 1 at Gonzo's official store, Gonzo Style; hopefully you have 198,000 yen ($1,775) handy. Also, Makoto Kobayashi, Last Exile's mechanical designer, will be at Tokyo Comic-Con from December 2 - 4 to showcase a special edition of the drone. Con-goers can also see a full-size version of a vanship from Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing-.

Another iconic flying machine, the Möwe from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, has also been developed — although as a full-size, flyable glider.
