Fans of Kemono Friends are flocking to the Tobu Zoo in Saitama in droves for a new collaboration event featuring character images, limited edition merchandise, and a special message from voice actress Saki Ono. The collaboration began on April 22 and will run until June 25.
26 character images have been installed in animal exhibits around the zoo, and a special one minute recording by the voice of Raccoon, Saki Ono, is being broadcast periodically throughout the park.
Original crossover goods are also being sold at the zoo, including can badges priced at 300 yen (USD $3).
Park employees are also doing themed animal guide presentations, and fans who attend the beaver presentation at the end of the day can receive a White Tiger collaboration can badge as a gift.
More information on the Kemono Friends x Tobu Zoo collaboration can be found on the zoo website.
Kemono Friends is also getting its own line of original cookies in a collaboration with the Kumamoto City Zoo. Part of the proceeds will go directly to the zoo, which was damaged in the Kumamoto earthquake in 2016.
After the earthquake, the Kumamoto City Zoo closed for repairs and animals were evacuated to zoos in nearby prefectures. The zoo reopened for business in February 2017.
The Kemono Friends cookies will be available on the Kiyomasa Seika sweets company website and will go on sale during Golden Week, which is the first week in May. There will be 5 different types of cookie wrapper featuring illustrations of characters from the show, such as Royal Penguin.
The Kemono Friends anime, which was part of a multimedia project that included the Nexon smartphone game of the same name, aired from January to March 2017 and was streamed by Crunchyroll. A new video project has been green-lit for the franchise, but details have not yet been released.
