The special will air on December 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m, and will consist of three episodes. The three episodes are titled "Nesshō! Chnai no Do-jiman Taikai" (Sing Loudly! The Neighborhood Boasting Tournament), "Mimatsuya no Nayami" (Mimatsuya's Worries), and "Sukiyaki Tabetai" (I Want to Eat Sukiyaki). The first episode will center on a neighborhood boasting tournament that takes place in Maruko's neighborhood.

The duo previously performed the main television anime's ending theme song "Susume Nonsense," which debuted in October 2017.
