Doraemon, Chibi Maruko-chan Anime Get Christmas Specials
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
TV Asahi and Fuji TV revealed respectively on Thursday and Sunday that the Doraemon and Chibi Maruko-chan shows will get Christmas specials this month.
The Doraemon special is titled "Mirai no Christmas Card" (Christmas Card of the Future), and will air on Friday, December 7. The special's story centers around Doraemon's "Christmas card" device, that allows the writer to experience a world filled with what they write in the card. While Doraemon writes "eating many Christmas cakes," Gian writes "A holy world overrun with Gian," creating a dystopian world with "Gian angels" and a "Gian choir."
Subaru Kimura, Gian's voice actor, will sing an original Christmas song titled "Ding! Dong! Christmas no Mahō" (Ding! Dong! The Magic of Christmas) for the special.
The Chibi Maruko-chan special will consist of three episodes collectively titled "Chibi Maruko-chan - Mou Sugu Christmas! Chōnai no Do-jiman Special" (Chibi Maruko-chan - It's Almost Christmas! The Neighborhood Boasting Special), and will air on December 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The three episodes are titled "Nesshō! Chnai no Do-jiman Taikai" (Sing Loudly! The Neighborhood Boasting Tournament), "Mimatsuya no Nayami" (Mimatsuya's Worries), and "Sukiyaki Tabetai" (I Want to Eat Sukiyaki). The first episode will center on a neighborhood boasting tournament that takes place in Maruko's neighborhood, with guest cast also making an appearance for the special.
