Levi, Eren, Colossal Titan Look Lovely in Eye Drop Ads

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Survey Corps of Attack on Titan have lent their skills to campaigns ranging from body hair to laundry detergent. The anime's newest (and strangest) collaboration is with Santen Pharmaceuticals, a company specializing in eye drops. Levi, the Colossal Titan, and Eren appear in short ads with tired, worn out eyes. They use Saten's eye drop products to refresh their fatigued eyes and get a rather shojo makeover.

The Attack on Titan collaboration is part of Saten's Eye Care Project. The company surveyed 512 men and women ranging in age from their 20s to 50s. The survey found that people in their 20s used smartphones the most often, including right before bed. The survey also found that "tired eyes" were looked upon negatively by others as "unhealthy", "old," or "lacking motivation." Saten's Eye Care Project is looking to specifically target tired eyes caused by screen fatigue.

The SHIBUYA 109 department store will hold a "Virtual Eye Meeting" on August 1 where participants can get an "unprecedented experience" of using eye drops in a virtual space. The VR experience puts the player in a world with the Colossal Titan. The Titan will squeeze eye drops above the player's head and the player must be underneath them to obtain points and a commemorative photo.

Saten also released ads with virtual idols Kizuna Ai and YuNi.

Santen is no stranger to anime. The company created its own web anime series series starring 10 girls named after ingredients found in eye drops. Together, they struggle to protect the health of planet EYE. Santen has also collaborated with the Evangelion Rebuild films, the magical girl Sailor Moon, and One Piece's Straw Hat crew.
