The Ghibli film will also air on Japanese TV on the anniversary of the war's end

The Hiroshima City Cinematographic and Audio-Visual Library announced on July 8 that it will screen Isao Takahata and Studio Ghibli's 1988 historical film Grave of the Fireflies. Tickets for the shows are 510 yen for adults and 250 yen for seniors (65 years old and older) (about US$3.50 and US$1.70, respectively), but admission is free for those under 25. The Library will screen a 35mm print from 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m each day on August 10 and 11.

The screenings are part of the remembrance marking 80 years since the first atomic bombing . As part of the remembrance, the library is holding the Cinematheque of Peace 2025 from July to September. The library hopes attendees will “Inherit the reality of the atomic bombing and share thoughts about peace through film.”

Along with the 35mm print screenings, YTV will air the film throughout Japan during its "Kinyō Roadshow" programming block for films on August 15. The airing falls on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Japan.
