Viz in the News
posted on
The San Jose Mercury printed a front page article on Saturday, August 26 entitled Envisioning a pop-culture bridge. The article focusses on Viz's founding and it's ongoing desire, as a company, to expand U.S. interest in Japanese culture. "The ultimate payoff for Viz would be a much deeper blending of Japanese and U.S. cultures."
The magazine of course discusses Viz's long time meal ticket, Ranma 1/2 as well as it's recent goldmine licence: Pokémon. "Revenues jumped tenfold last year to more than $100 million, said Horibuchi. He projects a leveling-off this year to $40 million -- still huge compared with a few years ago."
