Spirited Away, Stand Alone Complex Win Awards

In separate festivals, Spirited Away and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex brought home awards from film industry and critics.

Adding to its lengthy award list, Spirited Away has been designated "Best Animated Feature" at the 2003 Cinemarati Awards. In one-on-one votes, Spirited Away outmatched Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Lilo and Stitch, and The Powerpuff Girls. Cinemarati: The Web Alliance for Film Commentary, is an exclusive invitation-only organization of film critics and journalists that features roundtable discussion in addition to its annual awards.

Also recognized in recent awards was Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. At the 2002 CA Media Arts Festival, episode two of the new television series captured the "Excellence Prize" in the animation division. The festival was assembled by the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs, a division of Japan's central goverment established to promote culture and international cultural exchange. In celebration of the honor, pay-TV channel Animax will air the episode non-scramble (free) on March 1st and 2nd in Japan.
