Japan to Use Anime to Buff Its Image in China

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Over the past several months we've reported on several Japanese government programs aimed at increasing the awareness and appreciation of anime in other countries. Now Asahi has posted an English article about a Japanese government program aimed at using anime and J-pop to polish Japan's "tarnished" image in China. Unlike previous programs that we've reported on, this is the first one focused on one single country. In total, Japan will spend 3.11 billion yen (US$26.8m) on PR in China (not only anime/j-pop related PR). Thanks to Sy for this item.
