A.D. Vision's PiQ Mag to Cover More than Anime, Manga

Newtype USA's replacement covers games, other topics in smaller page format

The Comics212 blog reports on the media kit for PIQ, A.D. Vision's replacement magazine for Newtype USA. The re-branded magazine will launch on March 18 with around 130 8-by-10-inch, perfect-bound pages for US$6.99/CDN$7.99. Newtype USA issues had around 160 9-by-11-inch, staple-bound pages for US$12.98/CDN$16.98. The media kit lists the following breakdown of the editorial content:

  • 20% Anime
  • 20% Gaming
  • 20% U.S. Comics/Japanese Manga
  • 20% Genre Movies/TV/Home Video
  • 10% Toys/Collectibles
  • 5% Gadgets/Hi-Tech Gear
  • 5% Lifestyle (fashion, accessories, events)

A.D. Vision is planning to circulate 100,000 copies of the launch issue and aims to have 150,000 by the end of the 2008, with a 70% male demographic. The company is offering the 15,000 Newtype USA subscribers two PiQ issues for each remaining issue on their Newtype USA subscriptions. Comics212 posted a mockup of the first issue's cover and more details. The end of Newtype USA was first made public on January 9, and the first details of PiQ magazine were released on the following day.
