Macross Frontier Gets Third Manga, Novel, Mag in July

Macross Frontier, the ongoing sequel to the Macross space opera franchise, is inspiring a third manga series, the first novel volume, and a biweekly reference magazine in July. Sorahiko Mizushima will launch the Macross Frontier: Dakishimete, Ginga no Hate made (Macross Frontier: Hold Me Tightly to the Edge of the Galaxy) manga series in Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace magazine in the September issue (on sale on July 26). There was already an earlier manga in the same magazine called Macross Frontier Chō Jikū Utahime Ranka (Macross Frontier: The Super Dimension Songstress Ranka)、as well as the main Macross Frontier manga series in Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine.

An author by the name of Ukyō Kodachi has launched the first volume (pictured at right) of the Macross Frontier novelization. The anime's character designer Mikan Ehime and the main manga artist Hayato Aoki illustrate the volume. The volume will officially sell on July 1, although some stores have released it early.

Finally, Shogakukan and We've, Inc. have dated the premiere issue of Macross Chronicle, the biweekly reference magazine that spotlights different aspects of the entire franchise, for July 24. Like the earlier Gundam Fact File for the Gundam robotic mecha franchise, each Macross Chronicle issue will profile the franchise's mechanics, characters, story, technology, events, world-building, and other topics. Each issue will have 32 A4-size (about North American letter paper size) pages.
