ADV Gets Indian Summer Anime, Five Live-Action Titles
posted on by Egan Loo
The North American anime distributor ADV Films has announced at its Otakon panel on Sunday that it has licensed the Indian Summer (Koharu Biyori) anime and five sets of live-action titles. The five live-action titles are Attack Girl Swim Team vs. The Undead, Cruel Restaurant, Gluttonous 1 & 2, Female Prisoner Epsilon, and a new series of Kunoichi movies. Most will be released under a new company called Switchblade Films. ADV Films' new partner, the one that replaces Sojitz after their agreement ended, will be announced soon. There is at least one other anime that ADV Films is close to acquiring, but it will not be announced at Otakon.
The three-part Indian Summer anime adapts Takehito Mizuki's manga of the same name. The near future story revolves around a doll collector who purchases a robotic maid — not to serve him as she is programmed to do, but to dress up in costumes. ComicsOne released the first volume of the manga in North America in 2004.
