The Oricon music news source and NTV's News 24 program report that Japanese pop singer Beni will appear at Anime Expo as an official guest, and will perform at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles during the July 1-4 convention. Her concert will be held on July 3. Anime Expo has confirmed with ANN that Beni, who once went by her birth name Beni Arashiro, is a Guest of Honor this year. The 24-year-old singer performed ending theme songs for both Eyeshield 21 and Major.
Beni had once attended a San Diego elementary school in California, and she told News 24 that it is an honor to be invited to the event. She added that since she spent part of her childhood in California, she considers it to be her second home.
Before Beni's "homecoming" live concert was announced, her new Lovebox album debuted at #1 on Oricon's album sales chart for the week of May 31-June 6. It was the first #1 album for Beni.
