Suspect Arrested for Pirated AKB48 CDs, One Piece

Police arrested 59-year-old unemployed suspect Shinya Sugimoto of Nanao City in Ishikawa Prefecture on suspicion of selling pirated CDs of AKB48 and other musical acts, as well as DVDs of the One Piece anime and other titles. According the police announcement, Sugimoto sold 52 copied CD-Rs containing 244 tracks by popular idol groups without authorization on April 23. Sugimoto was already under arrest for allegedly selling obscene materials. Police say that they found 1,138 CDs in Sugimoto's car, as well as a duplication machine and 1,110 master CDs for pirated copies in Sugimoto's home.
