posted on by Egan Loo
Comic-Con International gave Tsuneo Gōda, the creator of the internationally known mascot character Domo-kun (Domo), an Inkpot Award during his panel on Saturday. Goda is appearing at the convention courtesy of Dark Horse Comics.
Goda (pictured below) created Domo-kun as the mascot for the Japanese public broadcaster NHK, and he oversaw the stop-motion shorts that the Japanese studio dwarf inc. animated. Goda's other works include the Komaneko film and PLUG, the New World, a project created in conjunction with Nissan Motors.
Shōjo manga pioneer Moto Hagio received the Inkpot Award last year, and Hayao Miyazaki received the award the year before.
