The North American anime distributor Aniplex USA and the video sharing website Nico Nico Douga announced on Wednesday that they will be streaming the Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal (Rurouni Kenshin - Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Tsuioku Hen) original video anime series in North America on Friday, August 19, and in Japan on Saturday, August 20.
Based on the samurai manga by Nobuhiro Watsuki, the Rurouni Kenshin anime debuted on Japanese television stations in 1996. The series went on to produce a total of 95 episodes, two video anime projects (Trust & Betrayal and Reflections), and an animated movie.
Aniplex USA announced in May that it will import the Blu-Ray Discs of both video anime projects and the movie to the North American market later this year. The New People Theater in San Francisco, CA, will be screening Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal on Saturday, August 20.
