The return of weekly updates from Australian and New Zealand conventions! This week, Wai-Con announces a special guest in the lead-up to its 2012 event, and Manifest invites potential volunteers to its next meeting.

The Melbourne Anime Festival (Manifest) is holding its next meeting on Saturday, January 14th, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. People interested in helping to run the convention are welcome to attend.


Perth anime convention Wai-Con has announced that Canadian comic artist and animator Kelly Turnbull will attend this year's event as a special guest. Also known as Coelasquid, Kelly Turnbull is the artist and writer of popular webcomic Manly Men Doing Manly Things and has worked on several American animations, including Ugly Americans. Panels featuring Kelly as a guest will be announced soon.

Registrations have also opened for Wai-Con's cosplay competition, with rules and the registration form available on its website.

Wai-Con 2012, dubbed Wai-Con Invasion, will take place on the 28th and 29th of January at the Perth Convention Centre. Tickets can be bought at the door and are available for purchase online.
