The official website for the Code:Breaker "dark hero" television anime began streaming the series' first promotional video, "Aku ni wa Aku o" (A Vice for a Vice), on Tuesday. The 74-second video highlights Nobuhiko Okamoto's role as the main character Rei Ōgami.
Yasuhiro Irie (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Kurau: Phantom Memory) is directing the series at the studio Kinema Citrus. Yukie Akiya will be the character designer and chief animation director, and Masayuki Sakoi will be the assistant director.
The remaining main cast includes Yōko Hikasa (K-ON's Mio) as Sakura Sakurakōji, and Kenichi Suzumura (Gintama's Okita) as Toki. Subaru Kimura will play Masaomi Heike (Mawaru Penguindrum's Kanba), Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Durarara!!'s Mikado) will play Yūki Tenbōin, Mitsuki Saiga (.hack's Tsukasa) will play Rui Hachiōji, and Shinichiro Miki (Bleach's Kisuke Urahara) will play Hitomi.
Kamijyō's manga debuted in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2008. The 19th compiled volume shipped in Japan on Tuesday.
Rei seems like an affable transfer student to everyone around him, but quirky high school beauty Sakura sees his true face as a terrifying vigilante - a "nonexistent" Code:Breaker who cannot be touched by the law. And since Sakura has just witnessed the effects of his deadly blue flame, she's slated to be the next to burn!
