Viacom Launches Japan-Focused MTV81 Site

Media conglomerate Viacom International Media is launching a Japanese pop-culture focused website in English. MTV81, branded after the popular MTV channel and international dialing code for Japan, focuses on what is shaping the pop culture landscape in Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and other cities, according to Viacom.
"There's a hike in demand for Asian content because of young audiences becoming more familiar with it through the internet," stated Vice President of Digital for Viacom International Media Networks Asia, Ji Hee Nam.
The site is ad supported with assistance from advertising agent Dentsu.
