Sanko Takada's Taberu Dake Manga Gets Live-Action Show

posted on by Karen Ressler
Supernatural gourmet manga revolves around mysterious girl who eats with others

The June issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Big Comic Spirits magazine revealed on Saturday that Sanko Takada's seinen manga series Taberu Dake (Just Eating) will be getting a live-action drama adaptation. Details on the adaptation will be published in July issue of Monthly Spirits magazine, which will ship on May 27.

The gourmet manga revolves around a mysterious, perpetually hungry, goddess-like girl whose name, age, and job is unknown. This woman will appear out of nowhere only to have a meal with others. Each chapter follows her encounter with a new person: as she drinks milk with an elementary school girl after a bath, eats an entire cake with a lonely man on Christmas Eve, and even as she transcends time to eat deer hot pot with the inhabitants of a mountain village in ancient times. When she leaves, those she encounters are left with smiles on their faces.

Takada launched the manga in Monthly Big Comic Spirits in 2010, and Shogakukan published second volume of the manga in May 2012.
