Silent Mobius QD Paranormal Police Sequel Manga to Launch

Kia Asamiya sets new series 17 years after 1st series with new AMP unit

The August issue of Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine is announcing on Wednesday that Kia Asamiya will launch his new manga series Silent Möbius QD (Quadriga) in the following issue on August 12. The story will be set 17 years after Asamiya's original paranormal police manga Silent Möbius, which marks its 25th anniversary this year.

The original manga deals with Attacked Mystification Police (AMP), an elite all-female unit who protects Tokyo from Lucifer Hawks and other supernatural creatures in the 2020s. The new "special police battle fantasy" manga will feature a "reborn" AMP unit.

Viz published the 12 volumes of the original manga in North America in monthly issues and later in compiled volumes. Udon Entertainment announced in 2009 that it planned to republish the original manga as they were published in Japan, including the later Silent Möbius Tales and Silent Möbius Klein volumes, but the company has since only published the first four volumes of the original manga.

The first manga spawned two theatrical anime films and a 26-episode television anime series. Streamline Pictures released the first movie, while Bandai Entertainment released both movies and the television series.

Update: Image added and Udon Entertainment's publishing information corrected. Thanks to sugarwater and Daniel Zelter.
