The Blu-ray Disc and DVD release for the anime film Saint Young Men, which opened in Japanese theaters in May, is slated for October 23. The special edition release will include a "making of" feature, a "gag" music video from Gen Hoshino, two theatrical previews that were shown during the Evangelion 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo and One Piece Film Z films, one teaser trailer, two trailers, three commercials, a clean ending sequence, a "SYO-GYO-MUJYO" promotional video, and more. The release will also include a 32-page booklet with creator/director/staff interviews, early designs, original art, and an original spin-off comic, and will be bundled in a box with illustrations by original manga artist Hikaru Nakamura.

The anime film and Nakamura's original manga imagine if the Enlightened One Buddha (voiced by actor Gen Hoshino) and the Son of God Jesus (SAKEROCK band leader Mirai Moriyama) shared a low-rent apartment in Tokyo's Tachikawa area. The two holy beings have landed on Earth and now experience the mortal life in Japan.

Noriko Takao (episode director on Clannad, K-ON!, Lucky Star) directed the film at A-1 Pictures off a screenplay by Rika Nezu (live-action Kimi ni Todoke, live-action Absolute Boyfriend).

The original manga has sold more than 9.5 million copies. An original anime DVD was bundled with the eighth manga volume in December, and a second anime DVD will ship with the ninth volume in August.
